MARK WILKINSON: TOURING MOMENTS THAT SHAPED A CAREER
Written by Brooke Gibbs.
This August and September, Australian singer-songwriter Mark Wilkinson is setting out on a journey that promises not just music, but magic. With the announcement of his Wild & Hunted Things Tour, Wilkinson invites fans across Australia to experience an unforgettable live show shaped by both the songs he’s crafted and the memories he’s made around the world.
As he prepares to take the stage in seventeen cities across NSW, VIC, QLD, SA, WA, and ACT, Wilkinson is not just looking ahead; he’s reflecting on the moments that shaped him. From humble beginnings in Sydney pubs to playing iconic venues and festivals across the globe, it’s the stories behind the songs that give his performances their unmistakable warmth and authenticity.
For Wilkinson, each show on the road has been a chapter in an incredible story. Here are some of his most cherished touring memories:
1. My first ever open mic night at The Bat and Ball Hotel in Sydney - scary as hell but made it out alive.
2. Opening for Rodriguez at a Day on the Green in front of 10,000 people.
3. Performing on RTL late night, one of the Netherland’s most popular talk shows.
4. Performing at the iconic Blue Bird Cafe in Nashville.
5. Perform at the Zermatt Unplugged Festival in the Swiss Alps overlooking the Matterhorn.
6. In 2017 I performed over 100 concerts for fans in backyards, living rooms, private boats, farms, workplaces and everything in between in locations across the world. Not a single memory but a crazy year of shows.
