INTO THE MOSH 129 | PEACH PRC | PORCELAIN ALBUM LAUNCH PARTY

Words and Photography by Matilda Elliott.

Stepping into the heart of the Sydney Botanical Gardens, I was met with a glowing, pink hue lighting up the dusk evening.

I joined a line of hundreds of flower and vine clad fans who were eagerly awaiting admission into The Calyx, which aptly was hosting the Pandora X Peach PRC launch of Peach’s second studio album, Porcelain.

As we entered the circular building, we were gifted a lucky dip of exclusive Pandora charms designed by Miss Erotica herself. I was super amped to get the faerie wing design!

Winding further into The Calyx felt more and more like we were stepping straight into a Shirley Barber illustration, a twig archway with string lights led to a room drenched in leaves and greenery, a perfect backdrop for Peach’s new album, which has such a focus on creating an oasis in noticing what’s around us, but believing there’s something more to see, finding the joy in the little things and opening our eyes to the beauty that we are often numb to.

Peach’s tour outfits inspired by flora were also on display. I went to the food bench and got myself a pink lemonade, then, took a photo at the photo op.

Soon after, we were instructed by MC Talecia Vescio to sit down. Not long after, Peach made her way to the stage, donning a woven green dress, with flower petals and leaves adorning her face.

She sat down into a pink flower on the stage, and her wandering spirit enchanted us all.

“Is everyone having a cute time? Bring me down to Earth if I’m being insane.” Peach said with a chuckle to a roar of laughter and applause.

Peach started her show with a duet of sorts with a plant from the garden in the Calyx.

She used a machine that picked up the plants vibrations and turned them into a melody.

From there, Peach sang Eucalyptus, which sent everyone into a trance. Peach didn’t need bright lights or millions of things going on stage to hold the audience along with her.

Next, Peach played Pink, which she described as a prequel to Dear Inner Child. As with many Peach PRC tracks, the nostalgic lyricism and realistic storytelling with this track was connected with the most enchanting vocals and music. I felt as though I was in Peach’s pink childhood kitchen with her as she painted her world so beautifully with her voice.

After the songs were completed, Talecia did a Q and A with Peach. Talecia’s questions were incredibly well thought out and well received by Peach who continuously was shocked by how well Talecia was able to analyse and connect with her art.

The pair discussed two Easter eggs within the album, including a reference to pigeons and the fact that in one of the tracks Peach says her real name backwards - I won’t spoil the fun and reveal where you can hear these!

It was an incredibly beautiful and perfectly Peach way to welcome her new era, surrounded with beautiful relics of the earth.
