Providing personable glimpses into music.

Future Focus 055: SBU x REMNANT.exe, ÆTHER x Dead Cartel, EONE

Over the last couple of years, Wave and Hardwave music have taken the Electronic and Dance scenes by storm. Artists like Skeler, Kareful and Plastician, labels such as Liquid Ritual and Vibe Digital, plus WAVECITY, Wave Memes, and Reddit’s r/wavepool communities have laid the groundwork for the genre to expand into the mainstream. This sentiment is upheld with mainline labels Insomniac, Sable Valley, Ultra and Spinnin’ all experimenting with adding the genre to their roster of releases and premier curators Trap City and Trap Nation joining the cause…

In Future Focus 055, Lukey Byatt showcases releases from SBU x REMNANT.exe, ÆTHER x Dead Cartel and EONE; who are set to be the next generation of the genre and it’s further cross genre evolution.

SBU x REMNANT.exe - Hull Breach

By Lukey Byatt

Wave heavy hitters, SBU and REMNANT.exe return with ‘Hull Breach’ a boisterous record.

From the euphoric Bass lead to the bombastic drop, ‘Hull Breach’ contains all the hallmarks of a certified Hardwave hit. Both SBU and REMNANT.exe’s distinctive styles are tightly welded, resulting in a bombastic barrage of sound. If you like the sounds of Trap or Hardstyle, and are looking to expand your sonic repertoire into Wave; ‘Hull Breach’ is the track for you.

I’ve been fan of SBU and REMNANT.exe for a while… Their collaboration is everything I could have ever hoped for and so much more.

ÆTHER x Dead Cartel - Vivid

By Lukey Byatt

ÆTHER and Dead Cartel are two fairly new artists on my radar, but the release of ‘Vivid’ has quickly cemented them into my favourites list.

‘Vivid’ is the perfect representation of Wave music’s surreal soundscapes. The delicate synths glisten through the melancholy bed of bass, like sunshine on dreary day. This relationship between light and dark is a concept that is quintessential to the sonic semblance of Wave. ÆTHER and Dead Cartel exquisitely explore this notion in ‘Vivid’.

I’m going to be sure to watch ÆTHER and Dead Cartel in future releases.

EONE - Heartbroken

By Lukey Byatt

Neo Grime, Wave, and all round experimental legend, EONE returns with ‘Heartbroken’.

If you’ve been following EONE for a while you’ll be familiar with the producer’s depth and attention to detail. The release of ‘Heartbroken’ is a culmination of all his skills. Pulling prompts from Hyperpop, Wave and Neo Grime, ‘Heartbroken’ is a chaotic and high octane affair that pushes the boundaries of Electronic and Dance music.

I’m looking forward to listen what else EONE has on the horizon.
